Requirements for all Groups

All groups must:

  • Break into work groups of no more than 10 before arrival

  • Group leaders need to be assigned before arrival and must be able to lead that group independently in the designated skill level of the appointed leader.

  • Make sure all forms are collected and signed and presented to the agency director on arrival

  • An orientation session will be set for the morning of your arrival - it should take approximately one hour

  • All groups should:
  • All groups must provide adequate vehicles to accommodate the number of volunteers in their group.

  • All groups must be prepared to provide a "runner" who will be responsible for running to the store to pick up supplies and back to the office to pick up tools and supplies.

  • Bring a gift card from Lowes, Walmart, or Home Depot for each group to cover miscellaneous expenses that come up on all jobs for that one box of nails, widgit, or thingamajig that the homeowner forgot or was left off an estimate.

  • FOR UNSKILLED GROUPS: We recommend all groups sign up at you local Home Depot for a Saturday morning workshop in: roofing, framing, sheet-rock (drywall), flooring, etc. Diversifying your group provides for a more productive volunteering experience.

  • Groups will be expected to spend one day in camp performing maintenance assistance

  • Groups will be expected to maintain the camp in military clean condition inclusive of daily bathroom chores/trash chores/kitchen chores

  • No alchohol or drugs. Strictly enforced

  • Quiet time at 9pm, lights out at 10pm, work day starts at 8am sharp for everyone.

  • Unskilled groups will be assigned task equal to the skill level of the team leader.

  • Painting crews are expected to come home as clean as they left, that the paint brushes/rollers come back to the warehouse cleaner than they left, and that not one drop of paint is spilt at the painting site.

  • Tools are signed out of the warehouse. Crews are responsible for breakage, missing, or damaged tools and must replace them with equal tools prior to leaving. Wear and tear is understood and tools do wear out. Abuse of tools is not tolerated.

    Housing: Main Camp: 14 showers/9 bathrooms/sleeping for 150. Trailer hookups: 17. 2nd Camp: sleeping for 50 with five bathrooms. 3rd camp: Sleeping for 20 with five bathrooms.

    Housing Costs

    Deposit: There is a $25.00 per person deposit made at the time of booking the crew on the calendar.

    Housing Cost: $5.00 per day per person to cover camp overhead. Food costs are covered by one of the following two options:

    Option 1: Menu as below including Continental Breakfast and sack lunch $15 per person per day to cover food costs (available when this chef available). Alternate menu $12.00 per day.

    Option 2: Provide your own cook and use the camp kitchen resources to cook meals for group and there is no food cost - only housing cost.

    Housing and food cost waived for long term volunteers

    We hope that this will allow some flexibility for your group to allow for budget constraints.


    Daily Volunteer Meal Menu

    Bean Night

    Monday: White Beans and Rice with pork chops and baked or fried corn bread

    Mexican Night

    Tuesday: Tacos, chicken burritos and spanish rice

    Italian Night

    Wednesday: Spaghetti, meatballs or lasagna, Italian salad and garlic bread.

    Southern Night

    Thursday: Fried chicken,or baked chicken with mashed potatoes or gravy with rice, vegetables and bread.

    New Orleans Night

    Friday: blackened Catfish, Crawfish or Shrip etoufee, red beans, white and yellow rice and bread pudding.

    Roast Night

    Saturday: Grilled Eye of Round roast, baked popatoes, vegetables and Caesar salad.

    Barbeque Night

    Sunday: ribs or chicken and sausage with baked beans and potato salad or cole slaw.

    Alternate Menu - $12.00 per person per day, sack lunch and continental breakfast.

    Any menu night can be changed upon request with a 24 hour notice.
